Becoming a personal training and fitness instructor found Kiira Harvey almost by accident. She came to THRiVE as a member and loved all the classes, especially cycle, that she decided to become a certified instructor.
“It was amazing,” she says. “Shortly after joining, I became certified to teach Spinning. I loved motivating women in the classes, so I went for another certification in strength and from there, becoming a trainer just felt right, so I went all in.” That was several years ago, and Kiira is now certified through the National Academy of Sports medicine (MASM) and offers private and semi-private personal training at THRiVE.
She is also a 200-hour trained yoga teacher, and instructs Core Power and LiFT LiKE a GiRL. Her approach to personal training is simple. “Form over failure. Fuel your body and do not feed the disease.”
She recognizes that each of her clients require and individual approach. “Each person is different and has their own struggles, past, hurdles ahead and journey to set forth on,” she says. “I am here to be by their side with sound advice, and to support them in any way necessary.”
Kiira points to the community and caring environment at Thrive as a supportive place for women to belong. “If you are not there for a few days, people notice. If you are in need of a hug, there are open arms,” she says. “If you need encouragement, we will rally for you. You are never alone.”
